8.1 · Minor Progressions
Home in the dark
Minor's smallest famous story: i → VI → VII, around and around. A minor home, then the key's two stacked major chords, then home again. It powers half of rock radio. Once you hear the climb, you'll notice it everywhere.
The anthem loop
i–VI–VII and its longer cousin. Both climb the key's major chords, VI and VII, and the loop never really ends.
Compare: the pop loop
The same leave-and-return trip as the pop loop. Only the home chord changes: major there, minor here.
Any key, same shadow
The loop lives in the relationships, not the letters. Here it is from three different minor homes.
